Lanjarón a Safe Destination
The first safe destination in Spain
The municipality of Lanjarón has been named the first safe destination in Spain with the SAFE TOURISM CERTIFIED certificate, a cross-sectional tourist label covering 21 subsectors. On July 16th, 2020, Lanjarón was recognized and certified as the first safe destination in Spain, having both public spaces and most private establishments certified, Lanjarón became the first Spanish tourist destination that became a safe destination in an integral way. To achieve this, the guidelines for reducing the spread of SARS-COV-2 Coronavirus, have been implemented in public spaces and participating private establishments, which contain service, cleaning and disinfection specifications, maintenance and risk management for the different subsectors of the tourism sector. The Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality, together with the Secretary of State for Tourism, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, have developed these protocols and are the only ones of an official nature throughout the national territory. In Lanjarón, a total of 59 companies have been certified, with 13 hotels, 15 rural accommodation, 26 hotel establishments, a travel agency, a museum and an industrial tourism establishment. In addition, 55 businesses have received the necessary training for the implementation of these protocols. A contingency plan has also been developed that includes all the measures implemented in public spaces, specific locations and places of tourist interest. This way, all residents of the municipality and visitors are guaranteed that all the measures recommended by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are being followed by both the public and private sectors. Minimizing the risk and maximizing guarantees offered to users of different services and consumers of products. Due to this, all visitors and residents of the municipality are being asked to behave responsibly, respecting the security measures implemented, as well as the current hygienic-sanitary regulations to ensure that Lanjarón remains a safe destination.
